Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ #2 was organized by the late Superintendent Roy Simmons along with his wife, Missionary Linda Simmons in the mid-1980’s. He was a true man of God who believed in much prayer and fasting. As a visionary leader, he planted multiple ministries throughout Southeast Arkansas and Northeast Louisiana leading many souls to Christ and advancing the kingdom of God.
After a brief illness, Superintendent Simmons transitioned from his life’s work to his heavenly home in 2012. He was succeeded by Superintendent Harold Owens who led Holy Temple #2 through this period of grief and assisted them during that very emotional and transitional time.
Superintendent Harold Owens was succeeded by a young, energetic, and gifted Elder, Pastor Brandon Bolden. Pastor Bolden’s assignment was brief but most impactful and effective.
In the fall of 2014, Bishop Joe Baylor Mason, Prelate of the Arkansas 3rd Jurisdiction asked Elder Rodney Henderson if he would be willing to assume the leadership of the beautiful historic Holy Temple #2, Church Of God In Christ. After much prayer, Elder Henderson accepted this pastoral appointment and assumed leadership on the second Sunday of November 2014.
Elder Henderson began his work with three active members out of the five on the role. The congregation literally grew overnight. Pastor Rodney and First Lady Lisa were joined by eleven new members on his first Sunday. As the months passed and stability was established, some of the former members began to return to the now, Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ.
Pastor Henderson stands and builds on the foundational shoulders of the late, great Superintendent Roy Simmons. God has blessed and shown much favor to this anointed ministry. By the grace of God, the congregation has experienced significant and continual growth. Pastor Henderson preaches God’s word faithfully, wholeheartedly, and consistently. His unfeigned, lively, and vivid approach to the scripture is captivating and effective. His teachings transcend all demographic and cultural boundaries.
Under the leadership of Pastor Henderson and Lady Lisa Danzy-Henderson, the ministry is not only experiencing natural growth but most importantly, spiritual growth. The worship experience at Holy Temple is replete with weekly manifestations of God’s power and His greatness! This congregation of believers has a “Synergy” that is felt by all who enters its doors.
